I believe the tiles are ceramic. The set is recommended for ages 8 and up, making it suitable for players of all skill levels from children to adults. It offers a special and cultural twist on the classic game of chess. This also has 2 drawers for each set piece to go into. The figures are terracotta warriors and the theme is Three Kingdom Romance.
